Is Caite a web app or a desktop app?

Both — Caite ships on the web and as a native macOS and Windows app at the same time. Same account, same library, same credits. Use whichever fits the work; the desktop app is where Overlay, local media caching, and the fastest library scroll live.

Do I need my own API keys for the models?

No. Every model is routed through Caite and billed in credits from your plan. You don't need separate vendor accounts or keys to get started.

When should I use Pipelines instead of just generating in a studio?

When you'll repeat the work. Wire a product photo into an edit, that into a video, that into a voiceover, and save the graph. Next time you only change the input — unchanged nodes are cached by content hash, so they don't re-run or re-bill.

Can I upload my own photos and footage?

Yes. Every studio accepts uploads as references — product shots, brand assets, existing clips — and the Media Library keeps them alongside everything you generate.

How do I keep the same person looking consistent across renders?

Avatar Studio builds a reusable identity from a photo or a character builder. Once saved, you can attach that avatar to image, video, or clip generations so the face and styling stay aligned.

What is the Overlay?

Overlay is a lightweight generate bar that lives on your desktop — menu bar on macOS, always-on-top on Windows — so you can kick off a generation without opening the full studio. Results land in the same Media Library as everything else.

Do Studios and Pipelines share the same models?

Yes. Both surfaces sit on the same generation engine and credit balance. Studios are for interactive work; Pipelines are for graphs you want to reuse and re-run with caching.

Is there an API or MCP access?

Yes. Paid plans unlock API keys and webhooks; MCP is available so agents and editors can call Caite from outside the app. Details are on the homepage API and MCP sections.

How do credits work?

Each generation costs credits based on the model and settings you pick — the exact cost shows on the button before you run anything. Credits reset monthly, and unused credits don't roll over.

Can I use what I generate for client or commercial work?

Yes. On a paid plan, output you generate is yours to use commercially, subject to the underlying model providers' terms for the plan you're on.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, from the billing portal in the app. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.

What happens if I run out of credits mid-month?

Generations that need credits pause until your allowance resets or you move to a higher pack on Studio. You can still browse your library, edit projects, and manage your account.

Do yearly plans get unused credits back?

Accepted Answer

No. Credits are a monthly grant on both monthly and yearly billing. Yearly just locks in the subscription price; the credit rhythm stays monthly.

Can I get a refund?

If we terminate your account through no fault of yours, unused prepaid time is refunded. Voluntary cancellations keep access until the period ends; we don't refund unused credits for mid-cycle cancelations. Email hello@caite.app if something looks wrong on a charge.

Do you train models on my prompts or media?

Accepted Answer

No. We do not train Caite or third-party models on your private prompts, uploads, or generations. Providers only receive what is needed to run the job you submit.

Who can see my generations?

Your library is private to your account by default. We don't publish your work unless you choose to share it, enter a showcase, or give us permission.

How do I delete my account?

From account settings in the app, or by emailing hello@caite.app from the address on the account. Deletion removes your profile, generation history, and stored media from active systems, and cancels any subscription.

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Account and media are stored with our infrastructure providers; payments go through Stripe. Generation jobs are sent to the model provider you pick for that run. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
